Minutes AGM 7.00pm Monday 18th February 2019

Present: Nigel E, Andy S, Bruce S, Keith R and John E.
Apologies: Received from Lawrence R, Keith B, Steve S and Lyn S.

Last year’s AGM:  Read and Approved
Matters arising from 2017 AGM :  None
Treasurer/Secretary  Reports : Treasurer/Secretary : Keith R produced accounts showing balance brought forward of £510.72 , income of £226.00, expenses of £226.37 leaving a balance carried forward of £510.35. a net deficit of 37p. This was represented by a bank balance of £495.35 plus one L shirt (£15).
Handicap Sec: Bruce asked whether the new rules for 2019 were agreeable with the members. The only new rule that needed research was the one concerning a lost ball/out of bounds. If a player had played his shot and his ball subsequently deemed lost or out of bounds, he could then play his next shot from where it was lost or otherwise but take a two shot penalty (to be agreed with his playing partners first !) rather than walk back to where he played his previous shot and take distance and a shot as a penalty. Bruce would report back at the next meeting at Goodwood for clarification.
Captain:  John E had nothing to report other than thanking those members who came to the dinner. He felt that the venue at the Sailing Club was better because of the nicer atmosphere for the numbers we could now generate.
Election of Officers:  Andy Sweeney was unanimously appointed Captain. Keith R was reappointed Treasurer and Secretary. Bruce S was reappointed Handicap Sec.
2019 Presentation Dinner:   This was agreed to hold on Saturday 9th November 2019 at the Sailing Club. The new captain would liaise with Nigel to organise for that evening. He would also organise the golf for that morning to be held at Bognor Golf Club.
Dorset week-end:  Nigel reported that the event would be held on the weekend of 19/20/21 July 2019. Six twin rooms had been booked and hopefully 12 members would make themselves available. At the time of the meeting there appeared to be 14 members that could be available. Numbers would be sought at the next meeting. For those that had already agreed to attend, he reminded them that deposits of £50 needed to be paid asap.
Captains Cup:  Bruce reported that Meon Valley had wanted unfavourable terms to hold the event at that course. He recommended that Cams Hall, Fareham would be a better option. Basically it would cost £50 for Bacon Roll , 9 holes, Lunch and then 18 holes to finish in the afternoon. A deposit of £100 had been paid to secure the event on Saturday 7th September, 2019. Consideration for subsidy would be decided nearer the event.
Membership : The membership of 20 was actually reduced to 15 active members and it was this consideration that led the meeting to agree that this was sufficient and new members would not be actively sought. Once again it was felt that we would not be offered more than 4 tees on a Saturday in any case. Organisers for the day would be encouraged to invite guests should insufficient members be available.
Any Other Business:  Keith B commented on the playing order at each event. It was unanimously agreed by the meeting that the playing order would be drawn before each event. Whilst not completely set in stone, it was felt that the social side should be upheld and groups mixed up for each event.
The meeting was declared closed by the Captain at 7.50pm.
