Minutes of the Golf Society Meeting 7/11/06

Present:
John Parsons, Colin Lindsell, Brian Clist, Bruce Santer, Lyn Santer, Brian Kay, Nigel Etheridge, Alan Read, Dave Farrow 
7.30 till 9.00
Agenda
1. Appoint a chairman John Parsons
2. Appoint Officers.

c. Handicap secretary Bruce Santer
d. Treasurer Lyn Santer
3. Start and Finish months of the Season 1/3 till end of Feb
4. New comers - Non members- Members ? 
Agreed more players required - Open to non-members. 
Total of 24 players overall
5. Fees £3 per game for prizes. Nearest Pin. Longest Drive, Overall winner for each game.  surplus added to the Society Fund for trophies or as decided by committee - possibly subsidise "Golf Day", Order of merit  most consistent player. 
5. b Funds Colin to hand over the bank account and signatory to Lyn as then new Treasurer.
6 Should we rejoin EGU Decision No - Official handicaps can be obtained online if required by individuals,
7. Handicaps Adjust handicaps using Congu Rules plus Rule 19 if handicap appears unfair. - Official Golf Club handicaps to be ignored and issued by BRYC Golf society
8. Captains Cup To be organised by Committee
9. Fixture Calendar To be created - JP/LS/BS
10. How often do we play Apart from monthly Saturday games - Twilight mid week games during May June July August
11. Etiquette and rules.
a. 3 or 4 ball Either
b. Rule book All given R & A Rule books to carry
c. Drops/plugged/Lost balls Rules Must be complied with - any query - call over another player to witness/advise on a decision.
d. Rule 10 Order of play - Always furthest from pin first - but you could be invited  to play out of turn to increase speed of play..
e. Looking lost balls Play your ball before helping another look for their ball
f. Line of play Don't distract player by standing on their playing line in front or behind on green  
g Trolley/bag at green Leave them at the exit point of green area clearing green asap
h. Pick up ball Pick up your ball if you cannot score
i. The Honour The Honour is carried from the previous hole. To assist in speed of play - Only if group in agreement anyone ready can tee off with permission of the holder of the honour.
j. Cards Duty of the marker to know how many strokes the player has made and confirm at next tee.

Cards must be signed by marker and player before leaving the course unless inclement weather dictates otherwise
