Minutes AGM 7.30pm Thursday 18th January 2018

Present: Nigel E, Andy S, Bruce S, Lawrence R, Keith R, John E, John P, Steve S, Phil H & R Holmes.

Apologies: Received from Mark G, Keith B, J Mustoe, Lyn Santer, Ian A , Colin L & Phil L

Last year’s AGM:  Read and Approved
Matters arising from 2017 AGM :  None
Treasurer/Secretary  Reports : Treasurer/Secretary : Keith R produced accounts showing balance brought forward of £599.70 , income of £252.00, expenses of £340.98 leaving a balance carried forward of £510.72. This was represented by a bank balance of £445.72 and an outstanding deposit held by Hillbarn (£50) for the next meeting and one L shirt (£15).
Handicap Sec: Bruce asked whether the handicaps were still agreeable with the members. All agreed except for John P who thought it unfair as he was always getting cut !. A general discussion took place whereby it was agreed to keep it all the same as per previous. It was also agreed to cap the handicaps at 28.
Mark Green suggested that new members should play 2/3 rounds and be assessed before they could win an event and the three balls. The meeting was told that in any case new members would only be appointed at an AGM (or EGM if requested) and therefore would probably play several rounds before being invited to join. Therefore could only win longest drive or nearest the pin until such time as being a member.
Captain:  John E had nothing to report other than thanking those members who came to the dinner.
Election of Officers:  John E reluctantly agreed to be reappointed Captain, Keith R was reappointed Treasurer and Secretary. Bruce S was reappointed Handicap Sec.
2018 Presentation Dinner:  A discussion took place and the meeting agreed that they would like to go back to the sailing club. Bognor Golf Club was too big with a cold atmosphere. John agreed to speak with Michelle at Bognor GC and cancel the provisional booking made for the 10th November 2018. Nigel would book the sailing club for the same night. Phil H would book the golf on the morning of the dinner. John would organise the day. Bruce would speak to Mon-Fri gang to enquire whether they would wish to join us again to swell the numbers.
Dorset week-end :  Nigel reported that the event would be held on the weekend of 13/14/15 July 2018. Eight twin rooms rooms had been booked and hopefully 16 members
would make themselves available. He reminded the meeting that deposits of £50 needed to be paid asap. Nigel also said that he would take more responsibility in the daily organisation and maybe have a different format. The secretary would be given a rest this year !!
Captains Cup:  Bruce had/will book Meon Valley on the similar terms as last year for Saturday 1st September 2018. A benefit of 20% off food and drink was on offer from the golf club and this was accepted. The other alternative benefits offered were considered but not considered to be as beneficial. As only one benefit could be accepted anyway
Membership : To keep the numbers to 20 it was agreed to offer membership to Graham Woods. The secretary would write to him accordingly. Once again the meeting felt that It was unlikely we would be ever getting more 16 players at any one meeting and therefor no more than 4 tees would be required on one day.
Any Other Business:  Lawrence reported the sad news of his friend who died before Christmas. He had played as a guest on more than one occasion, Sean Curtis,  condolences were expressed.
The meeting was declared closed by the Captain at 8.20pm.

Secretary
