| 10 members and 3 guests turned up to play Milford on a cloudy chilly
morning although the sun did make a brief apperance. It was good to
welcome back Brian and Dan along with Stuart who joined us for the first
time. Everyone kept to their pre arranged socially distanced groups and
all seemed to enjoy the waiter served bacon rolls etc. The course had
changed from our last visit with the introduction of 3 new holes and a
new dog leg left first hole although the tee was still pointing in the
old direction which seemed to send a few tee shots right of target.
Brian led the front nine with 16 points closely followed by Bruce and
Rob on 15. John G blitzed the back nine with 25 points and was the
eventual winner with a total of 39 points , very well done (I promise
never to mention the approaching train on the 14th again !!) Steve came
in second on 37 and Rob third on 35. Nearest the pin on the 10th went to
John G with a shot measured at 5 and a half feet and Steve I believe was
on the only one on the green on the 17th so no measuring required there.
There are 4 handicap changes with John down 2 shots to 24, Steve down
one to 20, Rob down one to 21 and Paul up one to 20. I hope everyone
enjoyed the day despite the restrictions and look forward to getting
back to a normal society meeting sometime soon.

Captains Cup Sept 2020 East Horton
|
Six members Socially distancing and sanitised with the Covid still a
threat met at Horton Park, in ideal golfing conditions. The sun
shone with a bit of breeze now and again. Following the bacon rolls and
coffee we started with a minutes silence for John Parsons.
After 18 holes on the Greenwood, Steve and Keith led with 27 and
Andy on 26. A spot of ham egg and chips and out to the Parklands course
for 11 holes (its closer to the club than the 9th). After the normal 27
holes in count back order were Andy, Steve and Keith on 43. Which would
normally have been the final positions. But after the 2 extra holes
Steve nudged ahead winning with 48, Andy 47, Keith 45, Rob 43, Bruce 36
and John E 31.
Five chances of nearest the pin but only two executed. Keith on the F9,
Steve on last 9 ( Nearest in two on 221 par 3).
Everyone enjoyed the course so it was booked for next year.

Following a week of sun following the month or so long rain, eight
arrived for coffee and bacon rolls. The A27 being blocked meant some
arriving after the 12 o'clock tee time.
The second group taking a 12.30 tee. The course being in relatively good
conditions for the unfolding two horse race.
Leader of the pack on 22 Nick with his phenomenal driving outdoing
Phil H on 20 followed by Keith B on 18, Nigel on 16
Beware of the injured golfer! Nick having hurt his back only
managed 19 on the back and Phil sunk to 14.
Due to the late start and the onset of darkness Nigel and Brian K
decided to finish on 14th Tee by the club with Bruce and Keith B rushing
round the last 5 holes before the light went completely
No takers for nearest the pin on 5th and Phil Hawkes winning the
balls for the 13th drop hole.
A good day was had by all. Thanks to Phil H for organising the day.
