Reports 2021

Crookhorn Nov 2021

So a game in November just.
We planned for a short game as we were informed that 3 holes would be closed. However the weather gods leading up to the game were very kind to us and the course. But a few days before we arrived, the local lads had used 3 greens for motocross practice so some temporary greens on the day.
The weather on the lead up was good on the day however it was freezing with gale force winds.
10 sturdy souls arrived to play the match. Due to the conditions the scores were not going to break any records
Nearest the pin on the 3rd Jacob
Nearest the pin on the 16 Keith B
Overall winner on 29 points Bruce
Andy will try and arrange a game for late in January keep a lookout for his email.

Chiddingfold Oct 2021

On an overcast day six members turned up at Chiddingfold, sadly Steve Stickland with a bad back and John Edwards with a cold/virus couldn't play. Two sets of three teed off on time and away we went.
Paul Smith came in first with thirty six points. John Green in second with thirty five points. Robert Holmes with thirty three points. Keith Beilby with thirty points. Jacob Heller and Stuart Moon with joint fifth with fifteen points each. John Green won nearest the pins on 6th and 13th. Well done to Paul for the win and everyone enjoyed the day.
Hope someone can organise the next round in November The consensus was Milford but anywhere will do.

East Horton Sept 2021

What is normally the Captains Cup took place but not for the Cup this year,  as we haven't had enough games to actually qualify to take part in the event due to Covid.  Eight of us arrived including Jacob (Robs Grandson and only his second round on a full course) for bacon rolls and Coffee. After 18 holes on the Greenwood, 5 shots clear our Captain returned 33 points Rob on 28, Steve and Bruce on 26. Steve managed to dribble on the 6th green for nearest the pin. and Bruce took the Longest drive on the 18th.
In for a later than planned ham egg and chips and then onto the eleven holes on the Parkland, Nearest in two on the 292 yard 4th was not taken.  Then the devastating news after 29 holes the bar was shut. A very quick count up saw the below results with an extra prize of a new Brolly donated by Graham went to Andy for best Last Eleven.
               G     P   Total                             G     P  Total
Andy      33+21 = 54               Tom         23+16 = 39
Rob        28+19 = 47               John E     22+11 = 33
Steve     26+19 = 45             Graham  B 20+11 = 32
Bruce     26+14 = 40              Jacob       12+14 = 26
As it wasn't for the Cup this time calls were made for handicap cuts. So only one change Andy looses 1 shot - now off 26

Next outing is Chiddingfold Sat 23rd October 1st tee 10.30. Names to Rob please

TOWER Aug 2021

Well it was good to meet up in a more relaxed Covid safe'ish environment (hopefully).  Eight came to the Tower for what should have been a sunny day, but the weather gods decided different, overcast with the occasional  drizzle was the order of the day.
Bruce led the front with 21, with Keith B close behind. on 20 Nearest the pin on 3rd was taken from Bruce by Rob But taken again by Keith B
Back nine saw Paul with a mere 24 points followed by Rob on 20. Nearest the pin in 2 on the 13th saw Rob the only contender. We won't mention John E or Stuart Moon chipping down the hole a couple of times or Stuart playing with a loose head on his driver. Wow what difference it made when tightened.
Totting up the score saw Paul take the prize with 40 points and 2 shot cut. Bruce with 38, Rob 36 and Keith B 35 all getting a 1 shot cut.
It was good to see Lyn taking part riding round in a buggy, but deciding to call it a day on the 15th.

See some of you at East Horton on 4th Sept

SOUTHWICK PARK July 2021

The second game since Covid 19 restrictions started in March 2020, the other game being Milford, way back in October last year. Six of us arrived at the course but it was nearly only five playing as John Edwards locked his keys in his car. John Green saved the day (we won't ask how he knew how to get in)

John G led the way with 19 points at the turn, 3 points ahead of Steve on 16. Steve was on song with the par threes winning both nearest the pins, even though he was sporting a huge bruise on his leg thanks to John G's tee shot on the dog leg 4th.  The greens were undulating and very fast as the Club Championship had taken place that morning. Lots of out of bounds which I kept on visiting. A nice coarse around a fishing lake.

Steve and John Edwards came home in 17 points, John G managed 16 points, winning with a total of 35. Steve 2nd with 33 and 3rd a very proud John Edwards on 27.

John G drops two shots to 22, Rob up to 22 and Bruce up to 19.

It was good to get some normality back with the hope the next game on the Tower Sat 21st August has a better turnout.
