CONSTITUTION FOR B.R.Y.C. GOLF SOCIETY

1. Name of Society.
|
1.1. The society will be made up from members and ex-members of the
Bognor Regis Yacht Club and will include friends and family. Therefore,
to form a differentiation between the Yacht club and the Society, the
initials of the club have been used to form the name:-
The B.R.Y.C Golf Society

2. Objectives of the Society
|
2.1. To produce a structured environment through which golf competitions can be played in a friendly, disciplined and competitive manner.
2.2. By the use of its own handicap system, ensure that all players are equally matched for the competitions held by the society.

3. Membership
|
3.1. Membership of the B.R.Y.C. Golf Society will be by invitation only.
3.2. All members must accept and agree to abide by the authority of the officers of the committee of the
B.R.Y.C. Golf Society as set out in section seven of this constitution.
3.3. Any member of the B.R.Y.C. Golf Society wishing to resign, must do so in writing to the committee.

4. Fees and Prizes
|
4.1. A fee will be paid by each member taking part in each event.
4.2. Monies collected from fees will be used by the committee for prizes, functions and/or administration costs.
4.3. No refunds of fees will be made in the event of anyone ceasing to be a member of
B.R.Y.C. Golf Society.

5. Funds
|
5.1. In the event of the dissolution of the B.R.Y.C. Golf Society, any existing funds, assets or properties of the society shall be distributed by the committee between members at that time, with the exceptions of donated trophies, which will become the property of the person who donated them initially.

6. Royal and Ancient Golf Club
|
6.1. The society and all members agree to abide by the rules of golf as laid down by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.
6.2. The society and all members agree to abide by the rules of amateur status as laid down by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.

7. Officers and Committee
|
7.1. The B.R.Y.C. Golf Society shall have Three officers:-
Captain.
Treasurer/Secretary.
Handicap Secretary.
7.2. All officers shall be elected by the society membership at an annual general meeting. A quorum for AGM will be one third of the membership.
7.3. Any member wishing to stand for office must be proposed and seconded by members of the society at the
AGM.
7.4. The elected officers will form the committee to run the affairs of the society.

8. Handicap Committee
|
8.1. The elected officers will form the handicapping committee to control the handicapping under any system selected by the
AGM.

9. Competitions
|
9.1. Competitions will be arranged/organised by members.
|
10. Discipline/ Sanction Procedure
|
10.1. In the event that any member of the society fails to comply with any of the rules set out in this constitution or for any reason whatsoever brings the name of the society or the game of golf into disrepute, the committee have the right to discipline the individual by way of disqualification from a competition, suspension from competitions or in the extreme, expulsion from the society.
10.2. In the event of disciplinary action being taken, the individual against who the action is to be taken, has the right of access to the committee with any other member of the society of the individual’s choice being present, to ensure that the individual’s side of the case is clearly stated and taken into account.
